PUPPY RESCUE

Tuesday, July 28th, 2009

Thanks to everyone that’s called, emailed, texted and sent warm wishes and congrats on our new family member, Manny! He’s doing great and I can’t wait to post pix as he grows, and I especially can’t wait to get him a mini-sized Q104 t-shirt!

Got a GREAT email from listener TIFFANY who ALSO adopted a puppy from A New Leash on Life  www.anewleashonliferescue.com). Her P.S. makes me giggle because I ALSO feel like I’m becoming one of those crazy dog people!!! Ha ha… one of my cats is a rescue from the Cleveland APL and now we have Manny that’s a rescue too - it’s the only way to go. Tiffany agrees, so I had to share:

Hi Jen –

Congrats!!! Heard you recently adopted a dog from A New Leash on Life – he is adorable and I think Manny is the perfect name. I too just adopted a dog from A New Leash on Life rescue group. He is a cocker spaniel named Booker – 14 weeks old and so sweet – also a puppy mill rescue. I agree – the rescue agency is great and I love the work they do for animals. We also have a 1-1/2 year old rescue that is part Shih-Tzu and is named Pepper. He is a spunky, sassy, stubborn boy and so far is having fun with his new brother. Seeing our first rescue dog grow and flourish into a confident, wonderful pet has been so rewarding … we can’t wait to see Booker grow up happy too.

I personally feel that adoption/rescue is the only way to get a pet … so thanks for helping spread the word.

Congrats on the new family member and good luck.

Best wishes,

Tiffany

P.S. – I’ve attached a picture of our little guy … can’t help bragging – I find myself turning into one of those crazy dog people

It’s official, the pup has a name…

Monday, July 27th, 2009

Meet MANNY! Thanks to everyone that voted and helped pick a name for the little guy… I can’t lie to ya, based on your votes, it was a VERY close call between Rocco and Manny, when it came down to it, Nate and I made the executive decision to go with Manny - although I’ve been going with “Man-a-licious” a lot today (lol).

Manny went on his first road trip this past weekend and did GREAT! Here he is chillin’ with my brother… he’s like a little baby and loooooves to be snuggled up in blankets!

… the newest member of the household! I’d tell you his name, but we’re still narrowing it down and that’s where I need your help. It’s your music, your station - and today, your puppy!! Here are the finalists:

ROCCO
MANNY
BAM BAM
MITCH
DUKE

Make sure you cast your vote in the poll just to your left here on this page!

He’s a Chihuahua - and was born in a puppy mill. We rescued him via an organization called
“A New Leash On Life” - they are amazing! I truly can’t say enough good things about them… they always have many different breeds ready for saving (as they say, they rescue by NEED, not BREED) -check out their website here:
www.anewleashonliferescue.com - our little man is 14 weeks old and SO SUPER TEENY TINY! The cats are adjusting slowly - Smoodges hisses at him a little, and Puddin’ keeps getting closer and closer, she’s verrrry curious… I’ll keep you posted.

CHRIS BROWN DECIDED TO APOLOGIZE…

Monday, July 20th, 2009

In my opinion, I think he’s just trying to “do the right thing” to save his career.  I have a hard time respecting any man that would ht a woman.  He’s totally reading this “apology” like its a script!  TRY SPEAKING FROM THE HEART AND MAYBE I’LL BELIEVE YOU… have a look and leave your comments. What do you think?  Is he being sincere?

LISTENER BRYAN MET TAYLOR SWIFT - SAYS SHE’S “BEST HUGGER EVER!”

This is TOO cool!  I just had to share… see photo and story below:

Haha, well, during the show, near the end, this lady comes up to us and goes “Are u the ones with the quilt?” and we say yah and she gave us wristbands to meet her after the show in the “T-Party” room!  We got to the arena at 9am, and around 4pm Andrea (Taylor’s mom) came out and said that she appreciates all of us waiting out there, but there was about 50-70 people and she said she couldn’t give us ALL m&g, so she was upgrading people’s seats from crappy seats to pit seats, which was so extremely nice of her.  Then me and my friend Katie held up the quilt, and Andrea goes “Wow, that’s amazing” and she asks us where we’re sitting and she says just hold it up during the show.  So I’m guessing that’s how the lady with the wristbands found us.  Haha.

When we were making our way backstage I started to get nervous, and then when Taylor and Kellie came in all the nerves went away because they are both such genuine, down to earth, caring people.  The Swift family is the nicest family on the face of this earth.  Andrea was thanking US!  She goes “Thank you so much for all you guys do.  Taylor and us appreciate it more than you will ever know.”  Taylor ’s little brother, Austin, who is 16 like me, was also there (he is a photographer) and so we chatted with him for a few as well.

When Taylor came over to me and Katie, we showed her the quilt and she goes “Are you kidding??  This is seriously for me??”  It honestly didn’t feel like we were talking with the top selling artist of 2008.  She talks to you and acknowleges you as if she knows your whole life story…and her hugs!  WOW!  She embraces you like she has known you your whole life.  I can honestly say Taylor Swift is the best hugger in the entire world, hands down.  Lol.  I got like 4 of them.

We asked her about a new CD…she said she’s working very hard on it.  She said she wants it to top Fearless (since it spent 13 weeks at #1) which is why she is taking so much time.  She has already written 9 new songs for it.  When i asked her about any names she’s thinking about naming it, she said this (and I quote)

“I actually already have the name picked out, and I am the only person in the entire world who knows it.”I’m so excited!!  :D  It was the best night of my life, and I will NEVER forget it.  I cannot get over how amazingly nice she is.  There was about 30 people in this room, and Andrea said that she has people go up into the nosebleeds and find the people who look like theyre having the time of their lives, even if they have crappy seats, and thats how they find the true fans and so they give them the wristbands for the T-Party.

In this T-Party room they had a TV, ipod playing, fooseball table, couches, chairs, tables, and even FOOD and DRINKS!  It was so unbelievable.  I am so happy that there is a celebrity out there who hasnt let the fame get to their head, and gives back to her fans so much.  It is quite unbelievable.
